Current Office Bearers
Dennis Buckley - President
After a career in the military and the engineering industry, Dennis is now doing what he loves best. He has been flying gliders at Narrogin since 1975. With all the egos we have around, he is known as the great helmsman.
Dayle Found - Vice President
An electrical engineer and past president, Dayle is our resident project manager. From power upgrades to systems upgrades to running a competition, Dayle is the man. And he loves the DG 505. It’s photo is in his wallet.
John Mortimer - Secretary
An academic, educator and past president, Morts is our management grease on the committee’s wheels and our link with the past. Morts joined our club in April 1975 gained a Diamond C, a level 2 instructor rating and a tug pilot rating who later became inactive in the early 90s to pursue a career. In 2010 he returned to find some things changed but the challenges still here.
David Harris - Treasurer
Another engineer and past president, David is our final fall-back against flights of fancy and similar expensive frolics by the rest of the committee. No favourite project, no must-have expenditure is allowed past his financial gateway without proper scrutiny. Favourite phrase – “Would you want it if it was your money?”
Rick Lovell - Chief Flying Instructor
Ex-RAAF and with a long family history in gliding, Rick runs our instructor panel and is directly responsible for the safety of our operations. He also owns a piece of a Nimbus 3, which he likes to disappear in as often as possible.
Alan Arthur - Club Technical Officer
Another ex-RAAF and past president with a trade and quality background, Alan can fix anything. Alan is the main reason our fleet looks as good as it does and so does our equipment. He’s been CTO for years, because we won’t let him give up the job.
Bryan Blackburn - Chairman of the Training Panel
Yet another engineer and past president (are you starting to see a trend here?). Bryan started gliding at Narrogin in 1981. More than 2000 gliding hrs and 60,000 gliding km later his focus is getting more pilots flying more cross country kilometres and enjoying it as much as he does.
Ben Terrell - Tugmaster
An aeronautical engineer and son of a previous tugmaster, Ben manages the towing operation and the tug pilots. Without the tug we don’t fly, so everyone loves Ben, especially the treasurer because, as well as being indispensable the tug is our biggest cost.
